Memorial Day is one of my favorite holidays because a) last year I got married Memorial Day weekend and b) it's the kick off to summer! It's the perfect excuse to host a backyard BBQ with friends, family, and plenty of great food. So be inspired by a little red, white, and blue goodness today and start planning your own Memorial Day celebration!

Midsummer Night's Dream: White+Gold

While my tastes tend to run in the modern, minimalist vein, today I took a detour to recreate the modern fairytale. Take Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream, and subtract the traditional brocades and dark colors like deep greens, purples, burgundy. My take is strictly gold and white. Think escort cards mounted on matte gold tree branches, a wedding cake topped with a gold leaf monogram, the bride in a gold-accented dress, and gold filigree earrings. Magical.

Spring has sprung, and greens are vibrant! Today's board is a fresh take on a garden wedding, in hues of Emerald and Peach! The key to this unique color palette is playing up natural greens with rich emeralds, paired with pretty peach florals. Combine natural elements with a bold-hued emerald chiffon frock and burlap details for an unexpected, elegant affair.

White + Platinum Wedding

This formal white and platinum wedding is inspired by an elegant 1920s theme, with splashes of art deco mixed with modern elements. I love the neutral color palette of whites and shades of platinum and grey. Set the tone with a modern classic, a square wedding invitation in grey and white. Work a beaded wedding gown and art deco earrings; carry on the art deco theme with your wedding cake, but bring in some modern whimsy with white cheesecake pops. Cap off your decor with antique-finish silver vases and votives. Perfect.
